Enyimba Football Club has announced the signing of Austin Onyemaechi from Rangers International ahead of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The 19-year-old midfielder has penned a three-year deal with the Aba-based club.

Onyemaechi joins Enyimba after an impressive stint with Rangers, where he established himself as a talented and versatile player. His move to Enyimba is seen as a significant boost to the team’s midfield, and he is expected to play a key role in the club’s quest for success in the upcoming season.

Enyimba’s coach, Olanrewaju Yemi, expressed delight at the signing, stating that Onyemaechi’s addition will strengthen the team’s midfield and provide more options for the coaching crew. “We are pleased to welcome Austin Onyemaechi to Enyimba Football Club,” Yemi said. “He is a talented player who will bring depth and quality to our midfield.”

Onyemaechi has already joined his new teammates in camp and is expected to feature in Enyimba’s pre-season friendly matches. His signing is a testament to Enyimba’s commitment to building a strong and competitive team ahead of the new season.

Enyimba will be looking to improve on their performance in the previous season, where they finished third on the NPFL log with 63 points, seven points behind league winners Enugu Rangers, who finished the season with a record-breaking 70 points, and two points behind second-placed Remo Stars, who finished with 65 points.

With the addition of Onyemaechi and other new signings, the team is poised to challenge for honors in the upcoming season. Enyimba, alongside Remo Stars and Enugu Rangers, will feature in the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League.
