Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update that one forgotten Super Eagle, Chidera Ejuke is on the brink of joining Spanish side Sevilla this summer.
Eight-cap Super Eagles player Chidera Ejuke is reportedly close to signing with LaLiga giants Sevilla. The 26-year-old forward, who was a free agent after leaving Royal Antwerp at the end of the 2023/24 season, is expected to join Los Nervionenses this summer.
Ejuke Poised for Sevilla Transfer
Ejuke, formerly of CSKA Moscow, has agreed to a contract with Sevilla, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. The move will be finalized after Ejuke passes his medical tests and signs the official documents.
Career Journey
Ejuke began his football career with Gombe United in Nigeria in 2016 before moving to Europe to play for Valerenga a year later. His career then took him to Heerenveen in the Netherlands, followed by a transfer to CSKA Moscow. Struggling for regular game time in Russia, Ejuke was loaned to Hertha BSC in the German Bundesliga for the 2022/23 season.

After his loan spell, Ejuke’s contract with CSKA was cancelled, leading him to Royal Antwerp. During his only season in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, he scored three goals and provided four assists.
International Career
While often compared to Nigerian legend Jay Jay Okocha, Ejuke has yet to make a significant impact on the Super Eagles. He has eight national team appearances and played during the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. However, he has not featured for the national team since.
Ejuke’s impending move to Sevilla marks a significant step in his career, providing him the opportunity to showcase his talent in one of Europe’s top leagues.
