FC ONE Rockets 2-1 Warri Wolves FC: Rockets overcome Wolves Challenge in NNL opener

FC ONE Rockets defeated Warri Wolves FC in the opening game of the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League season on Saturday March 4.

WHERE DID IT HAPPEN: FC ONE Rockets hosted Warri Wolves FC in the opening game of the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League season at the Eket Stadium in Akwa Ibom State.

Kick-off at the 18,000 capacity sports complex was 4pm in front of a supporters and dignitaries drawn from various parts of the country.

THE GAME: FC ONE Rockets overcame the stern challenge from visiting Warri Wolves FC to claim a 2-1 victory.

FC ONE Rockets striker Goodnews Paul scored the first goal of the season on the stroke of half-time.

The former Ibom Youths FC striker slammed home the opening goal after a scramble In the opposition six-yard box following a cross from Bidemi Obudu.

FC ONE Rockets looked comfortable with the slender 1-0 lead until the closing stages of regulation time when persistent pressure by Coach Jolomi Atune tutored Warri Wolves FC lads produced an equalizer.

Okere Shedrach applied the finishing touch to a well worked team move to level scores at 1-1 in the 89th minute.

Coach Ndubuisi Ndah tutored Rockets immediately pushed forward in search of another goal and duely got the winner in the first minute of stoppage time.

Former Bendel Insurance FC midfielder Bright Osah was at the end of a cross from substitute Samuel Anietie to restore FC ONE Rockets lead.

A tension soaked 4-minutes followed, one the hosts solid at the back to see off a 2-1 win.

Other Nigeria National League matchday one matches will take place on March 18, 2023.
