Based on their pedigree the Flamingos of Nigeria were drawn bye for the first qualifying round and scheduled to face the winner of the Mauritius Vs Central African Republic clash.

As widely reported, the inability to secure sufficient funds to participate in the qualifiers led to Mauritius pulling out, thus granting Central African Republic U-17 Girl’s automatic progress to the secondqualifying round where the continents best,Nigeria awaits.

The two-legged encounter between Nigeria and Central African Republic is scheduled to take place between February 2 and 11, 2024.

The aggregate winner of that clash will book automatic ticket to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, to be hosted by the Dominican Republic from October 16 to November 3, 2024.

Nigeria has been a consistent feature at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, missing only the 2018 edition.

At the last edition in India, Nigeria romped to a first-ever semi-final among the best U-17 teams in the world.

The Flamingos under the tutelage of Coach Bankole Olowookere were denied a final spot by Colombia but rallied to finish with a bronze medal, edging Germany on penalties in the third place playoff on October 30, 2022 in Navi Mumbai.
