Finidi George led Super Eagles technical crew rocked with confusion ahead of World Cup qualifier

There is uncertainty per the status of one coach in Finidi George led Super Eagles technical crew as Nigeria prepares for their World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

According to latest reports, the first assistant coach, Daniel Amokachi has reportedly turned down an offer from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Amokachi was expected to be an assistant to Finidi George, who is about to manage his first competitive game for the Super Eagles. However, doubts have arisen about whether Amokachi will be on the bench for the match against South Africa at Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday night.

Reports from Oga Nla Media suggest that Amokachi is unhappy with the terms of the contract offered by the NFF.

Unlike Finidi, who will receive a monthly salary, Amokachi and the rest of the backroom staff are set to be paid on a game-by-game basis.

Amokachi has rejected these terms, creating uncertainty about his role in the upcoming match.

This situation adds to the challenges facing Finidi George as he prepares for his debut competitive match as the Super Eagles boss. His preparations have already been disrupted by the late arrival of key players due to a strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) earlier this week.

Despite these setbacks, Finidi aims to start his tenure with a victory. The match against South Africa is crucial for Nigeria, who currently sit in third place in their qualifying group, two points behind leaders Rwanda and one point behind South Africa.

A win is essential for the three-time African champions to improve their standing in the group and strengthen their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
