Finidi George reveals why he signed for Rivers United

Newly appointed Rivers United head coach, Finidi George has revealed why he joined 2022 NPFL champions, Rivers United as head coach. The former Super Eagles boss has revealed that his ambition is to lead the team to continental glory in the upcoming season. Finidi, who was confirmed as the club’s new head coach on Wednesday, revealed his target at the contract signing ceremony.

“I am honoured to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win,” Finidi said.

“The target set is to win games and at least finish on the continent next season,” he added. “I want to make a big impact and help the team achieve great things. I believe in the potential of this team, and I’m excited to get started.”

Finidi, a former Ajax winger, has a proven track record in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), having helped Enyimba win the title during his three-year stint with the two-time African champions.
