Nigerian forward Gift Orban has landed in Germany to finalize a transfer deal that will see him leave Olympique Lyon during the January transfer window.
Orban joined Lyon last year after an impressive stint at KAA Gent, with the Ligue 1 side securing his services for a reported €14 million, including bonuses. However, his time in France has been far from smooth, as he struggled to make an impact, scoring just five goals in 21 appearances.
As a result, Lyon decided to part ways with the 21-year-old forward, making him surplus to their requirements. Several top European clubs showed interest in the Nigerian, but it is Hoffenheim that has emerged as the most likely destination.

Reports confirm that Orban has now arrived in Germany to finalize the move to the Bundesliga side, who are currently 15th in the league.
Transfer insiders Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto have both confirmed that only minor details are left to be ironed out before the deal is completed. Hoffenheim is reportedly finalizing the formalities to secure the young striker.

The deal comes after Lyon and Hoffenheim reached an agreement, with the Bundesliga club reportedly offering around €10 million for Orban. This represents a loss for Lyon, who had signed him for €12 million last year, with the total fee potentially rising to €14 million due to bonuses.
Despite interest from RC Lens, Hoffenheim’s offer quickly emerged as the most attractive option, paving the way for Orban to make his Bundesliga debut in weeks to come.
