Heartland FC unveil Emmanuel Amunike as head coach ahead of NPFL return

Former Nigeria International Emmanuel Amunike has been named and unveiled as the new head coach of Heartland FC. This unveiling happened on Monday, August 5, 2024 in Owerri, Imo State.

Heartland FC, which suffered relegation at the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, has reportedly acquired the NPFL slot from Beyond Limits and will compete in the 2024/25 season.

Amunike, who previously served as Director of Zanaco FC in Zambia, was officially unveiled by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on Monday afternoon.

The club hopes Amunike will bring stability to the team and lead them back to their former glory, including a potential return to continental competition.

Amunike who was linked to the Super Eagles head coach role before the appointment of Finidi George has already resumed work in Owerri.

For close to a month now, the former Super Eagles assistant coach has been scouting players as he looks to build a formidable squad for the coming season.
