The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) stands to receive a combined $13.9 million (approximately ₦21.64 billion) from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) if the Home-Based Super Eagles clinch the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) title and the Super Eagles secure victory at the African Nations Cup (AFCON) in 2025.
CAF recently announced significant increases in prize money for both tournaments. The winner of the CHAN 2024, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, will now receive $3.5 million, reflecting a 75% increase in the prize money.
Meanwhile, the total prize pool for the AFCON 2025 has been boosted by 32%, with the champions set to earn $10.4 million.

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe expressed excitement about the upcoming tournaments, emphasizing their role in nurturing local talent and enhancing African football’s global appeal.

“The CHAN is an important competition for the development and growth of Africa-based football players and talented young players,” Motsepe stated. “It contributes significantly to the global competitiveness of African football and CAF competitions.”
“This Competition is part of our strategy of investing in African football and making it appealing and attractive to football fans, TV viewers, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders in Africa and worldwide.”
The CHAN 2024 is scheduled to run from February 1 to February 28, 2025, with 17 nations, including Nigeria, already qualified. Two additional teams will join after the conclusion of the final qualifying matches.

If both the Home-Based Super Eagles and the senior Super Eagles win their respective tournaments, the NFF will rake in a staggering ₦21.64 billion—a major boost for Nigerian football.
