IMC, SME Sportz set to announce broadcast deal for NPFL

The Nigeria Professional Football League’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) has expressed satisfaction with the facilities and technology of Stream Media Entertainment Sportz (SME Sportz) and its willingness to collaborate for the live broadcast of NPFL games.

The IMC chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeye, said this while giving the committee a tour of SME Sportz’s facilities in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, on Sunday morning.

“I am very very impressed. The entire IMC is very impressed. What we have seen will advance the course of league coverage in this country, and we are ready to partner in terms of broadcasting the league”, Elegbeye said.

Elegbeye also added: “We want all matches to be on television, and that’s why we are here.

“It is good for the footballers, investors in club football, club managers, coaches and promoters of the league.”

The IMC boss was also full of praise for the Chief Executive Officer of SMESportz, Joe Udofia, for his investment in Nigerian football.

“Whatever Joe Udofia is doing, I have no doubt that it is always the best.

“Kudos to SME Sportz. Let me thank Joe Udofia for the invitation and the foresight to have these facilities. As if they know what is bedeviling Nigerian football and to be able to go to this level to invest massively, it is highly commendable.”

Vice Chairman of the IMC, who doubles as the Chairman of Akwa United, Elder Paul Bassey, Head of Operations, Prince Davidson Owumi, Secretary, Mr Olumide Bamiduro, members of the committee: Mallam Aliyu Adamu, Mr Mohammed Nasiru Sa’idu, Barr. Poubeni Ogun, and NFF representative, Dr Ayo Abdulrahman were also part of the tour and are in Uyo to witness the 2022/2023 season’s league opener between Akwa United and Bendel Insurance this evening.

SMESportz has world-class broadcast facilities and equipment, and has been broadcasting Nigeria National League (NNL) games for Vandrezzer FC since 2020, as well as the Lagos State FA Cup in 2021.
