Kano Pillars has shockingly dismiss Coach Paul Offor’s appointment just days after confirming his two-year contract. The 35-year-old coach was unveiled as the club’s new manager on a two-year deal, replacing Abdul Maikaba. However, the Kano State Ministry of Youth and Sports has dissolved the Kano Pillars Management Board, rendering Offor’s appointment void.

According to a statement from the club’s media and marketing committee, the state government has revoked Offor’s contract due to improper dealings with the relevant arms of government responsible for supervising the club’s activities.

This decision comes as a surprise, given that Offor had already been confirmed and unveiled as the club’s new coach.

Offor’s appointment was met with excitement from fans, given his impressive record with Sporting Lagos, where he led the team to their maiden trophy triumph, winning the Naija Super 8 final against Remo Stars. However, his stint at Sporting Lagos was cut short after a series of poor results and a fall-out with the club hierarchies which led to his resignation in April.

Kano Pillars ended last season in the bottom half of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and were looking to restrategise after a disappointing campaign. The club had high hopes for Offor’s appointment, but it seems that the state government’s intervention has put an end to those plans.

This development raises questions about the club’s management and the role of the state government in its operations. As a government-owned club, Kano Pillars is subject to the whims of the state government, which can sometimes lead to decisions that are not in the best interest of the team.
