Kemfon Davidson says Akwa United’s debut is a dream come true

Akwa United midfielder Kemfon Davidson has expressed his delight after making his debut in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The youngster came off the bench in the second half of the Promise Keepers’ matchday two clash with Abia Warriors at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Sunday.

Davidson joined Akwa United from Nationwide League One side Palm Syrup during the 2023-24 mid-season transfer window but failed to make an appearance for the club last season.

However, he’s now eager to make a positive contribution to the club’s quest for laurels in the 2024-25 campaign.

“I was happy when the coach selected me among the players that will play on Sunday, and it was a dream come true for me because it was the first time I was named in a matchday squad,” Davidson told Akwa United media.

“The moment I will never forget was when the coach said to me, ‘Kemfon, I know you can make a difference in this match, go in there and prove your worth.'”

Although Davidson didn’t score in the match, he’s thrilled that the opportunity he was waiting for finally came, and he’s confident that he’ll have more chances to play and score goals for the club.

“I’m particularly happy that I was on the pitch when we got that equalizer,” Davidson added. “It was my first NPFL match, and I have this confidence that I will have more and more opportunities to play and to score goals for this club.”
