LA Lakers to sign guard Wesley Matthews to one-year deal

NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers will sign veteran guard Wesley Matthews to a one-year deal worth $3.6 million.

Matthews played the 2019-20 campaign with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The move gives the Lakers an established three-and-a veteran who has had no shortage of experience on winning the NBA title. He will slot into a Lakers rotation as they set out to defend their title.

The acquisition of Matthews by the Lakers, using the team’s bi-annual exception, will hard cap the franchise, meaning they couldn’t exceed the $139 million tax apron.

Wesley Matthews, 34, averaged 7.4 points per game last season with the Bucks, could fill a similar role to what Danny Green filled last season for the Lakers.
