Vandrezzer FC playmaker Lawrence Effiong has praised the philosophy of Coach Rafael Everton at the club saying the Brazilian has instilled a ‘warrior’ attitude in the squad.
Effiong, speaking exclusively to The Athletic NG said Everton’s football philosophy has changed the mentality of the players for good.
“Yes, he has been doing a great job in the club since he arrived here, his ability to blend with the players has been great.”
Effiong liken Everton to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City who the coach refers to as his mentor.
“Every coach has his own football philosophy and his own tactics are great, some coaches need to sign players that will suit their own philosophy, so I think that is what he has done to the team.
“He knows the kind of players that he wants and his own philosophy is to control possession and open up opposition defenses like Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and he loves this team.
“He is trying to impose this philosophy at Vandrezzer and with the caliber of players we have, we have been able to blend and master his philosophy.
“He has changed the team a lot and especially the mentality and mindset of players, he makes us play like warriors, so this has helped us a lot,” Lawrence Effiong concluded.
The former Abia Comet and Dakkada FC midfielder was one of the outstanding players in the team before the league season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
