Ademola Lookman’s stunning third goal in Atalanta’s Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen has been named one of the best goals of 2024.
The Nigerian forward made history in May by scoring a hat-trick to lead Atalanta to a 3-0 victory, securing their first-ever Europa League title. Lookman’s achievement was groundbreaking, as he became the first African player to score a hat-trick in a European final.
His memorable performance included a clinical first goal in the 12th minute, tapping in a low cross from Davide Zappacosta. He then added a brilliant second, showcasing his dribbling skills and curling the ball into the net.
Lookman sealed his hat-trick with a powerful strike in the 75th minute, rifling the ball into the roof of the net, ensuring a dominant win.

As part of the 2024 Europa League highlights, UEFA selected Lookman’s third goal as one of the standout moments of the season. Other incredible goals from stars like Rafael Leao and Angel Di Maria also made the list, but Lookman’s incredible finish in the final stood out for May.
Beyond his European glory, Lookman capped an extraordinary year by winning the CAF Player of the Year award, making him the sixth Nigerian to do so.

Now, the 27-year-old is helping Atalanta aim for a first Serie A title, with the club currently tied at the top of the league with Inter Milan. Lookman has been in sensational form, contributing nine goals and five assists in just 15 Serie A matches this season.
