Head Coach of Rangers International, Abdul Maikaba has praised the performance of his players following his side’s 1 – 0 win over Doma United last weekend at the Awka City Stadium.
Chidera Eze scored from the spot for the Flying Antelopes in the 38th minute, but could have scored more if not for the brilliance of Doma United goalkeeper, Kingdom Osayi to keep the score at 1-0.
In his post match reactions after his side’s victory, Maikaba said it was a difficult game and praised the outstanding goalkeeping of Doma United’s Osayi.
“It was a good game that would have seen more goals from my boys,” Maikaba told journalists.
“But for some good goalkeeping from the Doma United goalkeeper (Osayi), we only managed to score one goal, but it helped us to pick three points.”
The former Akwa United and Plateau United gaffer also congratulated his players for the win after a difficult start of the season and target victory on the road for Rangers Int’l.
“I congratulate my team for this win, as we try to overcome our difficult start of the season.
“I am encouraged by the performance and believe that very soon, we shall start picking points on the road,” he said.
With the victory, Rangers Int’l now have eight points from seven games.
As the season enters Matchday 9, Abdul Maikaba ’s side will travel to Yenagoa on Sunday to face Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, following the postponement of the Matchday 8 fixture against champions Rivers United due to their continental engagement.
