Manchester United says Borussia Dortmund’s £108m valuation of winger Jadon Sancho is unrealistic under the current coronavirus conditions which has affected the transfer market.

Talks over a deal for the England international is at an early stage with the clubs said to be apart in their valuation of the player.

Sancho remains United’s no one target this summer but they are prepared to walk away from negotiations and pursue other targets if a compromise cannot be found over the fee.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in need of a right-winger ahead of next season with Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman an alternative if a deal cannot happen for Sancho.

According to ESPN, sources close to United’s negotiators say the club is yet to agree personal terms with the 20-year old winger.

Report says Solskjaer wants to maintain the positive atmosphere he has nurtured in the dressing room by breaking the wage structure and wants the club to be “discipline” in terms of player salaries.

Sancho, who joined Dortmund in 2017 for a fee of £7.2m from Manchester City has two years remaining in his current contract and is keen on a move to Old Trafford.

United remain optimistic a deal can be done but will not be rushed by the August 10 deadline imposed by Dortmund for an agreement to be reached.

It is likely the German club will have to drop their asking price while also accepting a structured deal made up of a guaranteed payment of around €70m and further installments and add-ons in the future.
