Moses Simon adds another feather to his cap in France

Moses Simon has been named Nantes’ Player of the Month for December, earning recognition for his exceptional contributions.

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon has been named Nantes’ Player of the Month for December, earning recognition for his exceptional contributions before an ankle injury sidelined him late last year.

Simon, a standout performer for the Canaries during the first half of the campaign, tallied four goals and five assists in his first 14 matches. His December outings solidified his status as the team’s key player, even as injury cut his momentum short.

In December, Simon delivered match-winning performances in both of Nantes’ Ligue 1 fixtures. Against Rennes, he scored a sensational solo goal in a 1-0 victory, dribbling past defenders before curling the ball into the net—a strike that quickly went viral.

In the match against Brest, despite a 4-1 loss, Simon provided the assist for Nantes’ only goal.

Simon’s efforts earned him 44% of fan votes for the monthly accolade, beating nominees Douglas Augusto, Nicolas Cozza, and Matthis Abline. The award will be presented to Simon on January 10, just before Nantes take on Monaco at Stade de la Beaujoire.

This is not Simon’s first taste of such recognition—he also claimed the Player of the Month title for Nantes back in September. Despite his current injury, the Nigerian star remains an integral part of the squad and a fan favorite at the club.
