Much-anticipated Akwa Ibom Governor’s Cup Super-12 draw-date announced

Date for the much anticipated 2023 Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Cup Super 12 has been announced by the football authorities in the South-south state.

In separate press statements on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Mr Bassey Ibiatisuho and Edidiong Stephen spokespersons for the Akwa Ibom State Football Association Normalisation Committee and Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports respectively said the draws will hold on Wednesday, November 1st.

The draw ceremony will take place at the VIP Lounge of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo by 10am.

Invited to grace the draw ceremony are; the Chairman of Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly Committee on Security, Youth and Sports – Honourable Uwemedimo Asuquo, members of the state Executive Council, especially the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs – Mkpisong Frank Archibong, the Permanent Secretary and management staff of Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, as well as the Chairman and members of Akwa Ibom state Football Normalisation Committee.

Others are the Chairman and members of the state chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria – SWAN, and the Council Chairmen of all the twelve qualified Local Government Areas and their Supervisors for Sports viz. Uyo, Nsit Ubium, Uruan, Ibiono Ibom, Obot Akara, Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim, Ikono, Ikot Abasi, Onna, Urue Offong/Oruko and Ibeno.

All invitees are requested to be seated at the VIP lounge of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo by 9:45am.

Recall that the preliminary round matches of the 2023 Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Cup were concluded on October 21, with the top-four placed teams from each Senatorial District expected to continue participate in the Super-12.
