Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella made a statement in Bayer Leverkusen’s first Bundesliga match of 2025, scoring just 24 seconds into a thrilling 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
The goal, Tella’s first of the season, is one of the fastest in the league this campaign and marked an impressive start to the new year.

Making a rare start, Tella capitalized on a pinpoint pass from Robert Andrich to fire Leverkusen into an early lead.
The visitors doubled their advantage minutes later through Patrik Schick, showcasing a blistering attacking display.
Dortmund quickly responded, with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens pulling one back in the 8th minute to keep the hosts in the contest.
However, Schick struck again just four minutes later, restoring Leverkusen’s two-goal cushion.
Despite a late push from Dortmund, including a penalty from Serhou Guirassy in the 79th minute to make it 3-2, Leverkusen’s defense held firm to secure the win.
The victory was achieved without Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, who missed the match due to injury.
