NFF announce Falconets pre World Cup camping plans

Nigeria's U-20 women's national team, the Falconets, have secured qualification for the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

The Falconets of Nigeria will be in action when the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup gets underway in Colombia later this year.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a four-week training camp for the U20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, ahead of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.

This decision was made during a meeting of the NFF Executive Committee on June 12, 2024.

To ensure the team performs well in the tournament, which runs from August 31 to September 22, the NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee will review the Head Coach’s training plan. The training will be in two parts: a four-week camp in Nigeria followed by a two-week camp in Colombia.

The Falconets are in Group D with Germany, Korea Republic, and Venezuela. Nigeria has participated in every FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup since it started in 2002, finishing as runners-up in 2010 and 2014, and reaching the semi-finals in 2012.

Recently, the Falconets won the Silver medal at the 13th African Games in Ghana after losing 2-1 to the Ghanaian women’s team in the final.
