Daniel Amokachi of Everton

Everton Football Club has invited Super Eagles legend Daniel Amokachi for a farewell celebration as they prepare to leave Goodison Park at the end of the 2024-25 season. The historic stadium, located in the Walton neighborhood of Liverpool, has been Everton’s home since 1892 and has a seating capacity of 39,414.

Everton will relocate to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock following the 2024-25 season. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the club has planned several events and invited notable figures, including Amokachi, to participate in the goodbye ceremonies for Goodison Park.

Daniel Amokachi, who played for Everton from 1994 to 1996 and won the FA Cup in 1995, will be performing at one of these events alongside other fan favorites like Lee Carsley and Thomas Gravesen. Amokachi is fondly remembered for his two goals against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semifinals and his post-final celebration in a beret.

Amokachi is one of several Nigerian players who have made significant contributions to Everton. Other notable Nigerian players who have worn the Everton shirt include Victor Anichebe, Joseph Yobo, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Hope Akpan, Alex Iwobi, and Ademola Lookman.

Everton’s charitable division, Everton in the Community, has announced that live music performances will be a major feature of the farewell festival. The “Farewell to Goodison Festival” will take place from May 30, 2025, to June 1, 2025, featuring three evenings and one afternoon of live music. The evening sessions will run from 5 to 10 p.m., and there will be a youth event on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

The club plans to construct a stage in front of the Gwladys Street end that can accommodate 20,000 spectators, with a reduced capacity for the junior event. This celebration marks the end of an era for Everton as they bid goodbye to their historic home and look forward to a new chapter at Bramley-Moore Dock.
