The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, announced that the annual beach volleyball tour initiated under his leadership is yielding significant positive results.
This declaration came following Nigeria’s victory at the 2024 African U19 Girls Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Morocco on Thursday.
Nimrod, who also serves as the Chairman of the Control Committee for the 2024 African U19 Boys Beach Volleyball Nations Championship, highlighted the tour’s role in providing players with more playing time and better preparation for international competitions. “I am excited that Nigeria is reaping the dividend of the beach volleyball tour in Nigeria. Nigeria has a pool where we can pick players from, and that is why the Nigeria Beach Volleyball Commission has decided to invest in the beach tour,” he stated.
The NVBF President encouraged state and private clubs in the country to support the sport’s growth by organizing mini tournaments and participating in the Beach Tour and President Cup. “This is the time for volleyball associations that have natural beaches in their states to organise mini beach volleyball competitions, which will attract more children as well as corporate bodies to partner with them. Government cannot do it alone; that is the reason we encourage selfless individuals to support their volleyball associations,” Nimrod emphasised.

He cited several success stories as evidence of the tour’s impact. “Esther Mbah is a National Youth Games, President Beach Volleyball Cup, and Nigeria Beach Tour Champion who grew from the ranks to become the U19 Beach Volleyball Champion and African Games bronze medallist. Pamela Bawa, at just 15 years old, is also a gold medallist of the annual National Youth Games. Victor Eze, a U19 Boys Bronze medallist, has been constantly participating in the President and Beach Tour with Kada Stars. We have a lot of young players from different clubs in the country who have actively featured in the beach volleyball tournaments,” Nimrod explained.
Promising an even more impressive event this year, Nimrod assured, “I want to assure you that this year’s edition of the Beach Volleyball Tour will be bigger and better because our ambassadors who represented Nigeria at the Olympic Qualifiers, U19 Boys and Girls African Nations Championships have shown our performances are not a fluke.”
The President’s remarks reflect the NVBF’s commitment to fostering the development of beach volleyball in Nigeria, leveraging the annual tour to build a robust pipeline of talent and elevate the sport’s profile both nationally and internationally.
