Turkish Women's Cup: Super Falcons trash Equatorial Guinea 9-0 to win tournament

Nigeria’s Super Falcons extended their unbeaten winning streak as they thrashed fellow African nation Equatorial Guinea 9-0 in their final game of the Turkish Women’s Cup played on Tuesday.

Ugonna Kanu opened the scoring for the Super Falcons through a well-taken strike outside the box in the 8th minute to put Nigeria 1-0 ahead.

Captain Asista Oshoala doubled made it 2-0 from the spot after Toni Payne was brought down inside the box before she scored again from the spot two minutes later.

The Barcelona Femeni star then completed her hat-trick in the 26th minute when she beat the offside trap of the Guineans before rounding up the goalkeeper to slot home to make it 4-0 for Nigeria.

Toni Payne then provided an assist for Uchenna Kanu who stroke it home to make it 5-0 after the 36th minute.

Charity Adule scored his first goal of the tournament to make it 6-0 with a well-taken header in the 38th minute while Toni Payne netted her first goal for Nigeria two minutes from the break.

Debutant, Monday Gift made it 8-0 in the 69th minute as coach Randy Waldrum gave a run out to several uncapped players.

Oshoala then grabbed her fourth goal of the game in the 85th minute with a well-taken strike outside the box to make it 9-0 for the Super Falcons as they were crown champions of the 2021 Turkish Women’s Cup after winning all three games in the tournament.

Super Falcons scored a total of eleven goals from three matches, without conceding in the tournament.
