The leadership of the Nigerian Referees Association (NRA) has sent message to the Nigeria Football Federation ahead of the 2024/2025 football season.

President of the Nigeria Football Referees Association, Alhaji Sani Zubairu, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to increase indemnities for referees and match officials in the domestic leagues.

Zubairu made this appeal at the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Football Referees Association (NRA) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, emphasizing the necessity due to the rising cost of living in the country.

While expressing gratitude to the NFF, led by Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, for their support and the timely payment of match indemnities for referees during the 2023/2024 season, Zubairu highlighted the need to clear all outstanding entitlements to match officials.

Additionally, Zubairu urged all football stakeholders to ensure adequate security for match officials across the country to help them perform their duties professionally.

He stated that the NRA would not tolerate any clubs or local football associations that incite supporters to violence against referees.
