Ikorodu City Football Club has been slapped with a N3 million fine by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following a security breach during their home match against Remo Stars last weekend.
The NPFL match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, was marred by an incident where Remo Stars’ assistant coach, Kamil Sulaiman, was assaulted by supporters of Ikorodu City after the final whistle.
The NPFL has taken decisive action against the Lagos-based club, citing their failure to provide adequate security at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, where the game was held. The security lapse allowed the violent altercation to occur, leading to the assault on Sulaiman.

In addition to the financial penalty, Ikorodu City has been ordered to play their next two home games behind closed doors, denying their fans the opportunity to attend matches as part of the punishment. The league also directed the club to identify and prosecute the individual responsible for the attack on the Remo Stars coach.
