Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 29 saw thrilling performances across the league, with Rivers United edging out El-Kanemi Warriors, Remo Stars strengthening their title push with a over Heartland, and Ikorodu City drawing with Enyimba in a dramatic encounter in Lagos.
Finidi George led Rivers United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri. After taking the lead with a 47th-minute goal from Taofeek Otaniyi, the visitors doubled their advantage in the 61st minute thanks to Samson Obi sweet finish.
However, El-Kanemi made things interesting when Rislanu Ismail pulled one back in the 6th minute of added time, but Rivers United held on for the win. This victory sees them maintain strong away form, with 16 points on the road this season, just one shy of last year’s record.
In Uyo, Akwa United triumphed over 3SC, winning 2-0 with goals from Endurance Ebedebiri in the 61st minute and Uche Sabastine in the 67th minute.
Gbenga Ogunbote led Shooting Stars are struggling, failing to win their last seven NPFL matches, just one ahead of Lobi Stars, who are yet to claim victory in 12 games.

Kennedy Boboye led Akwa United are now unbeaten in 3 games ( 2 wins & 1 draw) as the move to 31 points and still in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, Ikorodu City and Enyimba played out a thrilling 2-2 draw. Tosin Oyedokun gave Ikorodu City a first-half lead in the 41st minute, but Mujeeb Odufeso equalized for Enyimba in the 66th minute after rounding Ikorodu goalie.

Joseph Atule then put the visitors ahead in the 73rd minute profiting from a lose ball to slam home, only for Ayomide Cole to salvage a point for the Oga boys in the 7th minute of added time.
In Ikenne, Remo Stars continued their push for the title with a solid 2-0 victory over Heartland. Olamilekan Adedayo opened the scoring in the 31st minute, and Samson Olasupo sealed the win with a second goal in the 80th minute, maintaining an 8-point lead over Rivers United at the top of the table.

Finally, Abia Warriors claimed a 1-0 win over Bendel Insurance in Umuahia, with Sunday Megwo scoring the match’s only goal in the 43rd minute. Coach Imama led Warriors are chasing contintental place with 44 points, 1 points off 3rd place Rangers and 5 off 2nd place Rivers United.
