NPFL clubs begin CAF inter-club adventures

NPFL Super Six: Rivers United snatch late point against Remo Stars, Ekerete Udom scores to deny Insurance

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs are set to begin their campaigns in the CAF Inter-club competitions, with four teams representing the country in the prestigious tournaments. El-Kanemi Warriors, Rangers International, Remo Stars, and Enyimba will fly the Nigerian flag in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.

El-Kanemi Warriors, returning to continental football after a 19-year absence, will face Beninese side Dadje FC in their first-round match. The team has bolstered their squad with new signings, including Henry Ndedi, Agbo Ekoi, and Moje Suleiman, and will be hoping to overcome the challenge posed by Dadje FC.

Rangers International, the champions of the 2023/24 NPFL season, are making a return to continental competition after their last appearance in the 2016/17 season. Under the leadership of CEO Amobi Ezeaku and managed by Fidelis Illechukwu, the team will face Zilimadjou FC of Comoros in the preliminary stage.

Remo Stars are set to make their third consecutive appearance in continental competition, aiming to reach the group stages for the first time in their history. They begin their campaign against AS FAR of Morocco, the same team that eliminated them in the 2021/22 edition of the competition.

Enyimba, the fourth Nigerian team in the competition, will face a tough challenge in the CAF Confederations Cup. The team has been strengthened with new signings, including Ibrahim Abubakar and Faisal Sani, and will be hoping to make a strong impression in the tournament.
