Matchday 28 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) saw Enyimba secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.
Joseph Atule’s 29th-minute strike proved decisive for the nine-time NPFL champions, extending their unbeaten run to three league matches.
Elsewhere, former champions Akwa United earned a vital point in their relegation battle, holding defending champions Rangers to a 1-1 draw. Akwa United took the lead in the 24th minute through Kabir Osoba’s well-taken volley, but Rangers equalized just after halftime when Saviour Isaac converted a penalty in the 48th minute.
In Ilorin, Kwara United secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Kano Pillars at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Innih Stadium. Wasiu Alalade converted a 20th-minute penalty after Shola AbdulRaheem was fouled in the box, while Wasiu Jimoh sealed the win with a composed finish.

Dignitaries, including Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and APC chieftain Ambassador Yayaha Seriki, were in attendance, with Seriki pledging a ₦5 million reward to the team. The win lifts Kwara United to 10th place with 39 points.

Speaking after the match, Governor AbdulRazaq expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete at the continental level.
“The fans’ support is overwhelming,” he said. “It was a good game despite the fasting. We move forward to maintain top performance so that we can go continental. If you recall, we competed at the continental level a few years back.”
Elsewhere, Nasarawa United and Sunshine Stars played out a 1-1 draw at the Lafia City Stadium. Idris Ajiya put the hosts ahead, but Ahmadu Liman equalized nine minutes before the break.

Meanwhile, Plateau United secured a 1-0 win over Abia Warriors, thanks to Olayemi Doyeni’s composed finish from the penalty spot.
