The 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season kicked off with a bang, producing exciting matches and surprising results.

Remo Stars, Enyimba, and Kano Pillars emerged as the big winners of Matchday One.

Remo Stars began their campaign in style with a 2-0 victory over Abia Warriors.

Super Eagles defender Sodiq Ismael broke the deadlock early in the second half, and Fatokun sealed the win with a second goal, ensuring Remo Stars picked up all three points on the road.

Enyimba responded strongly to Heartland FC’s early lead, with Ihemekwele I. equalizing for the visitors two minutes after his introduction.

Clinton Jeptha was the hero for Enyimba, scoring twice to secure a 3-1 win in the Southeast derby.

Sunshine Stars delivered a dominant performance in front of their home fans, comfortably defeating Bayelsa United 3-0.

Kano Pillars made light work of newly promoted Ikorodu City, securing a 3-0 win, while Nasarawa United and Shooting Stars played out a 1-1 draw.

Bendel Insurance and Rivers United played out a goalless stalemate, and Plateau United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Katsina United, with Olawale Doyeni scoring the first goal of the new NPFL season. Niger Tornadoes beat Kwara United 2-1 away from home, rounding out the exciting Matchday One results.
