Head Coach of Rangers International, Abdul Maikaba says his players panicked against Shooting Stars of Ibadan during the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 16 fixture on Wednesday.
Elijah Ani put the Flying Antelopes in front in Ibadan at the stroke of halftime before Chinedu Enuademu leveled things up for the host in the second half to deny Rangers maximum points.
Maikaba, however, has expressed dissatisfaction over the poor performance, saying his players panicked at the crucial moments in the game.
“It was a good game which we should have won, but my players panicked a bit and we ended up conceding the equalizer. It could have been worse, but for the timely substitutions we made which helped us contain the opponents.
“We will go back and prepare for our next game. We will keep working on the team and hopefully, we’ll soon return to winning ways,” Maikaba said.
The result drops Rangers International to 5th position on the league table with 25 points, having played 16 games, while Rivers United sits top of the log with 35 points after the completion of 16 games.
Plateau United will be playing host to Gombe United in a Matchday 17 fixture at the FC Ifeanyiubah Stadium, Nnewi, on Saturday March 5, 2022.
