It is unclear at the time of reporting if the challenges are faced by the two clubs who are sponsored by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
LMC sources are yet to confirm the information when contacted by The Athletic NG.
The Athletic NG also understands that Match Commissioners in charge of the fixture arrived Uyo earlier this week in preparation for the fixture and the pitch at the Nest of Champions has been watered and marked ahead of the match.
This will be the third Ibom Derby in the top flight following Dakkada FC’s promotion last season. Akwa United took four points from the two fixtures last season, winning the first leg 1-0 and the second leg ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Eight other matches in the NPFL opening day will go ahead as planned today, with the Abia Derby between Enyimba and Abia Warriors in Aba to be played on Monday.
