“NWFL is not my target” – Naija Ratels Coach

Following yet another spectacular victory in the FCT, Coach of Naija Ratels, Bankole Olowookere has revealed that winning the NWFL is not his target.

Olowookere disclosed this to The Athletic NG after his team defeated Paul E 6-0 to retain the FCT Women’s FA Cup at the Area 3 sports center on Saturday in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The Flamingos gaffer stated that qualifying for the NWFL Super Six is his top priority.

He further revealed that the Super Six would help provide an avenue for him to train and develop the girls.

“For Naija Ratels, We’ve qualified for the National FA Cup, we now have to improve on our records”

“The league is still there and there is still race for the Super Six”

“For the league, qualifying for the Super Six is my target,if any other thing comes after that, I thank God”

“If I can win the league, fine!! But the league is not my target”

“it is for me to qualify for the Super Six so that I can have an avenue to develop the girls”…He concluded.

Recall also that Naija Ratels defeated Join Join FC 9-0 to win the trophy last season.

Olowookere lead Nigeria’s Flamingos to a bronze medal and it’s first podium finish at the U17 Women’s World Cup, since making their debut at the maiden edition in 2008.

They defeated Germany 3-2 on penalties after playing out a 3-3 draw in regular time.

Meanwhile, Naija Ratels are currently third on the NWFL Group A table with ten points from seven games.

The Nigeria Women Football League resumes on 22nd March,2023 for the second stanza of the season.
