Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Ogehenekaro Etebo on a season-long loan from English Championship side Stoke City, the Turkish club have announced.

The 24-year-old Nigeria international was unveiled by the Turkish giants on Tuesday after undergoing his medical test.

The reports in Turkey suggest no fee was paid for the Nigerian with Galatasaray expected to cover his wages for the duration of the loan deal.

Galatasaray Sportif A.S. disclosed that an agreement was reached for the transfer of midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo until the end of the season,” the club revealed on its website.

“We welcome Oghenekaro Etebo to our club and wish him a successful season under the Galatasaray Jersey.”

“I am excited to announce my arrival at Galatasaray, I am looking forward to this amazing opportunity and I am happy to be part of such a historic club,” Etebo wrote on Twitter.

The former Warri Wolves midfielder joined English Championship side Stoke City in June 2018 for £5.6m on the back of an excellent showing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

He was named Stoke City Player of the Season in his debut campaign and has played a total of 45 league matches for the championship side.

Etebo was reported deemed surplus to requirements at Stoke City following the arrival former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi this summer.

Etebo’s move to Galatasaray swells the ranks of Nigerians in Turkey as he joins compatriots Azubuike Okechukwu, Anthony Nwakaeme and Samuel Kalu in the Turkish topflight.
