Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, faced a 75-54 defeat against France in their second game of the 2024 Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris.
Following their surprising victory over Australia, where they won 75-62, Nigeria struggled against France.
The D’Tigress kept pace with their opponents for much of the first half due to their aggressive play.
However, the tide turned dramatically in the third quarter when France’s defense stifled Nigeria’s offense, limiting them to just 8 points.
France’s depth proved to be a significant factor, with the host team outscoring Nigeria 37-9 from their bench. Nigeria’s fatigue began to show, and they were unable to recover from multiple turnovers.
As they prepare for their final group match against Canada, D’Tigress have everything to play for. In other group news, Australia bounced back from their initial defeat by overcoming Canada 70-65 to secure their first win of the tournament.
