Propel Sports promises quality, improved coverage of the NPFL with multi-cameras

NPFL broadcast partner, Propel Sports, has committed to improving the quality of its coverage of league matches following a successful start to the 2023/24 season

Propel Sports, the broadcast partner of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has pledged to enhance the quality of its coverage of league matches after a promising start to the 2023/24 season.

The streaming platform successfully streamed five live matches on the opening day of the NPFL season, marking a significant milestone in Nigerian football.

Ed Simmons, the president of Propel Sports, acknowledged the challenges faced during the live broadcast but expressed confidence that these issues would be resolved in the upcoming matches.

He stated, “It’s been a mammoth undertaking for us at Propel Sports. We are working on multi-camera productions. There is an issue incorporating it, and that will be resolved in due course.”

The NPFL entered into a five-year contract with Propel Sports for the broadcast streaming of the league, signifying a significant step in improving the visibility and accessibility of Nigerian football.

The successful live streaming of matches on the NPFL-Live app received positive feedback on social media, with Nigerians commending the efforts of the league management and the broadcast partner. Five matches were streamed live from various locations, including Ibadan, Owerri, Katsina, Umuahia, and Lagos, on Matchday 1.

Chairman of the NPFL, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, expressed his delight at the multicast of live games and emphasized the commitment to further innovations in the league.

He stated, “We are looking forward to achieving a lot more innovations to the league and ensure that it moves in the right growth trajectory in revenue and quality of play.”

Media entrepreneur Edafe Mathew and sports journalist Michael Obasi praised the quality of the coverage and suggested that the NPFL and the Ministry of Sports should collaborate on a robust policy to drive the league’s growth and visibility.

The positive response from fans and media professionals reflects the potential for Nigerian football to reach new heights in terms of coverage and quality.
