Queiroz poised to take charge of Tunisia national team

Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz has arrived in Tunisia to finalize his appointment as head coach of the Carthage Eagles.

The deal reportedly includes an annual salary package of €1.5 to €2 million, covering his wages, as well as those of his assistant coach and performance analyst.

This move follows Kais Yaakoubi’s stint as interim coach and marks the beginning of a new chapter for Tunisian football.

A Glimpse at Queiroz’s Coaching Legacy

Queiroz boasts an impressive résumé, having managed elite clubs and national teams across various continents. His career highlights include:

Real Madrid (2003-2004): Guided the Spanish giants to a Spanish Super Cup triumph.

Manchester United (2002-2003, 2004-2008): Played a key role as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant, helping secure three Premier League titles (2003, 2007, 2008) and the UEFA Champions League in 2008.

Iran National Team (2011-2019): Coached 100 games, achieving back-to-back FIFA World Cup qualifications in 2014 and 2018.

Egypt National Team (2021-2022): Led the Pharaohs to the Africa Cup of Nations final and the World Cup playoff, though both campaigns ended in penalty shootout losses.
