Randy Waldrum says his future at Super falcons role is in the hands of the NFF

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has stated that his future with the team is in the hands of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). In an interview with ESPN Africa Journalist Collin Udoh, Waldrum expressed his desire to stay on as coach but emphasized that the decision lies with the NFF.

Waldrum’s comments come after the Super Falcons’ recent exit from the Olympic tournament, sparking speculation about his future with the team. However, the American tactician made it clear that he would like to continue in his role, citing the team’s progress and upcoming talent.

“I would like to [stay on]. I love the team. I love the direction that we’re headed. After a rough start here, I think we’re headed in a good direction,” Waldrum said. “There’s a lot of upcoming talent as we start to move some of the older players out after the Olympics and bring some young talent in. I think we can accomplish great things in the next level.”

Waldrum acknowledged the NFF’s support and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with the team. However, he reiterated that the decision regarding his continued tenure lies solely with the Nigerian FA.

“That’s more of a question for the Federation. I don’t know if they want me to or not, but I hope they at least appreciate the fact that we had the showing that we did at the World Cup and that we have qualified them for the Olympics,” Waldrum said. “And I hope they see that we’re doing some good things, but that’ll be a decision that’s up to them.”

The NFF has yet to make an official statement on Waldrum’s future with the Super Falcons. The team’s performance in the Olympic tournament has raised concerns, but Waldrum’s commitment to the team and its progress suggests that he is willing to continue in his role if given the opportunity. Ultimately, the decision lies with the NFF, and only time will tell if Waldrum will remain at the helm of the Super Falcons.
