In a show of unwavering optimism, Rangers FC defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has voiced his belief in the team’s potential to bring the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title home this season.
The Flying Antelopes, a name synonymous with Nigerian football excellence, last clinched the coveted NPFL title back in 2016, and Onyebuchi is eager to end the drought.
Rangers have started the season in fine form, winning two of their opening three matches. Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side have an identical scoreline (2-1) in all three matches this season, with the two victories against Doma United on the opening day and Niger Tornadoes last weekend came at home in Awka, while also losing 2-1 in matchday two to Remo Stars in Ikenne.
In an interview with DAILY POST, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi is confident that the current squad boasts the caliber of players necessary to reclaim the title.

“The current squad is good enough to win the NPFL title this season.” This assertion comes as a ray of hope for Rangers fans and football enthusiasts alike.
Onyebuchi went on to highlight the team’s aspirations, emphasizing that both the NPFL title and the Federation Cup are the top priorities for Rangers this season.
“The NPFL and the Federation Cup are the most important options for us, and we are very serious about winning both major trophies,” he affirmed.
Underlining the manager’s role in fostering this ambition, Onyebuchi revealed, “The manager always told us that we have the squad to challenge for everything and that he will always try to put a strong team to win every game.”
Rangers FC, a club with a rich history, has previously secured the NPFL title on seven occasions. This storied past, combined with the renewed enthusiasm and belief in the current squad, sets the stage for an electrifying NPFL season filled with hope, anticipation, and the promise of ending the title drought that has lingered since 2016.
