Rangers International FC Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has expressed his team’s determination ahead of their crucial CAF Champions League second preliminary round match against Angola’s G.D. Sagrada Esperança.
The encounter, which will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, is being treated as a ‘cup final’ by the Nigeria League champions as they lay ambush for the Angolan side with a group stage spot on the line.

Speaking upon his return from national duty with the Super Eagles after participating in two AFCON 2025 qualifiers, Ilechukwu said, “We are fully prepared to give our best against a quality team from Angola, with our focus on getting the win that will smooth our progress in the competition. We shall approach the match like a cup final, and we trust in God for His favour.”

Rangers overcame Comoros’ U.S. Zilimadjou 2-1 on aggregate in the first preliminary round, but they face a tougher task against Sagrada Esperança, the Girabola runners-up, who advanced by defeating their first-round opponents from Seychelles 4-0 on aggregate. Ilechukwu’s men are keen to build on their earlier success and secure a positive result in Uyo before the return leg in Angola.

With a group stage berth at stake, both teams will be looking to assert dominance in this high-stakes clash.
