A draw ceremony conducted in Johannesburg, South Africa on Friday, October 6 has revealed Rivers United FC opponents for the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Rivers United FC will face Tunisia’s, Club Africain, Dreams FC of Angola and Academica do Lobito of Angola in Group C of the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Rivers United FC are Nigeria’s sole representatives left in CAF Club competition this season and must reach the knockout stage to keep the countries four slots in the competition.
Last season, Rivers United FC reached the quater-final of this competition and will look to progress from the group with the experience from the previous year.
To reach the group stage, Rivers United FC edged Burkina Faso side Etoile Filante 2-0 on aggregate in the second qualifying round.
Coach Stanley Eguma tutored Rivers United FC will have to play their home games in a neutral ground as the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium falls short of requirements for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
