Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, Rivers United and Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Vandrezzer FC are among the teams that will participate in the maiden edition of the ValueJet Preseason Tournament in Ogun State.
The Nigerian champions announced on Tuesday, August 24, 2022, that they will join Plateau United, Remo Stars and Kwara United in the tournament. All four teams will represent Nigeria in the 2022/2023 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup respectively.

Rivers United FC will compete along side the three others clubs that will represent Nigeria in CAF Inter-club competition.

The ValueJet preseason tournament will host twelve teams, with the first four already confirm, NNL powerhouse Vandrezzer FC have also announced they will join the competition alongside Shooting Stars, Smart City FC, Gateway FC, Ijebu United FC, and Ottasolo FC.

The tournament is scheduled to kickoff on Wednesday, August 24 to September 3, 2022 at the Remo Stars Stadium Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.
The tournament sponsored by Value Jet Airline will serve as preparatory games for Nigeria’s continental representatives and a chance for the clubs to showcase their new signings.
The winner of the tournament will receive the sum of two million naira (N2,000,000), the runner-up will receive one million naira (N1,000,000) and the third-placed team will go home with the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) while other participating teams will receive the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000) only.
The organisers of the tournament on Sunday launched their brand identity for the tournament which will be on display across all media sectors.

ValueJet head of Communications, Tobi Adepoju says the tournament is building an identity that will encourage corporate sponsors.
“We witnessed this year’s Emirates Cup in London and that is the level we want to be in years to come.
“We are learning from several branded preseason tournaments and our target is to build this new identity to a top level.”
