Nigerian International Samuel Chukwueze scored the only goal in AC Milan’s 1-0 victory over Real Madrid at Soldier Field in Chicago in the early hours of Wednesday, August 1, 2024.
Chukwueze netted the decisive goal in the 55th minute, converting a pass from Mattia Liberali and beating Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Andriy Lunin at his near post.
This match marked AC Milan’s third pre-season fixture under new manager Paulo Fonseca, who took over from Stefano Pioli in the summer.

Prior to this game, Milan had drawn 1-1 with Rapid Vienna and earned a 3-2 win against Manchester City. Chukwueze’s goal was his first in Milan’s pre-season campaign, following two assists in their win over Manchester City.
The victory extends Milan’s unbeaten run in pre-season to three games. They will next face Barcelona on August 7 in Baltimore, followed by a match against Monza six days later.
Samuel Chukwueze attributes his impressive form to the confidence shown by manager Paulo Fonseca. After the win over Manchester City, Chukwueze remarked, “I like the new coach; he gave me an opportunity straight away. It’s important when someone trusts you. The fans will see a new Samu this year.”
