Saudi Arabia bow to The Eagles to extend winless streak

Saudi Arabia bowed to a 3-1 International Friendly loss to The Eagles of Mali on Tuesday, October 17 in Portugal to extend their winless streak.

Roberto Mancini tutored Saudi Arabia were overpowered at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao by the Eagles of Mali, days after holding another Eagle, the Nigerian national team to a 2-2 at the same venue.

That result means, Saudi Arabia have failed to win in eight consecutive games, losing seven and forcing one draw in a sorry spell for the 2022 FIFA World Cup participants.

For Mali, who will feature at next year’s AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, it is a fourth consecutive win, their most recent International engagements ending in victory vs South Africa and Uganda.

Against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia, Mali took the lead in the 14th minute through Moussa Doumbia before Traore made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute.

Salem Al Dawsari reduced the deficit for Saudi Arabia as he scored on 58 minutes to bring the score to 2-1.

Unlike in the draw vs the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Saudi Arabia could not find a way back into the game until Mali made the result safe thanks to Sinayoko who got their third on 71 minutes.

The International Friendly game ended 3-1 in favour of Mali to extend Saudi Arabian wait for a win.
