Simy Nwankwo’s hat trick keeps Crotone on the verge of Serie A return

Forgotten Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo yesterday bagged a sensesational hat-trick as Crotone smashed table-toppers Benevento 3-0 at the Stadio Ezio Scida.

The 28-year old lanky forward drew first blood with a fabulous header in the 14 minutes, with an assist by Alberto Gerbo, four minutes later he doubled Crotone’s lead with an exquisite finish assisted by Andrea Barberis.

He completed his hat trick in the 71st minutes following another fine team move assisted by Alberto Gerbo.

Simy Nwankwo has been a key part of Coach Giovanni Stroppa’s team as his side stay 2nd with 55 points after 32 games.

He has scored 16 Serie B goals in 31 appearances, 17 in 32 appearances in all competition.

He was part of Coach Gernot Rohr’s squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but could not make any impact and subsequently dropped from the Super Eagles squad.

Capped 4 times, he is yet to score for the green and white colors of Nigeria.
