Super Eagles B stand-in coach Daniel Ogunmodede has emphasized his team’s focus on the present and future as they prepare for a decisive CHAN qualifier against Ghana in Uyo.
The two teams played to a goalless draw at the Accra International Stadium on Sunday, setting up a tense second leg on the 28th of December 2024 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Ogunmodede, who also manages NPFL side Remo Stars, acknowledged the history of tough encounters with Ghana’s Black Galaxies but stressed the importance of securing qualification for Nigeria.
“We know history hasn’t always been on our side as a country, but we’ve decided not to focus on past challenges,” Ogunmodede said. “Our focus is on the present and the future. Qualification is vital—not just for the players, but also for the coaches, the country, and the next generation of footballers.”
He also highlighted the need for the team to perform well in order to help the domestic league gain international recognition:
“We need to give our best and become a strong representation for the league. To whom much is given, much is expected.”
Meanwhile, Ghana’s head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani shared his team’s ambition to keep a clean sheet and take a significant step toward qualifying for the CHAN tournament.
“As much as possible, we’ll aim to keep a clean sheet, but I believe we will score,” Dramani said. “I control the energy, effort, and performance of the players, but the result is not in our hands.”

With the advantage of playing at home in the second leg, the Super Eagles B team will look to secure the win they need to represent Nigeria in the upcoming CHAN tournament.
