Super Eagles get boost as Lookman and co. fly to Uyo

Last batch of Super Eagles fly to Uyo

The Super Eagles’ preparations for their crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa on Friday are nearing completion with the expected arrival of three key players in Uyo.

Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and attackers Alex Iwobi and Ademola Lookman, the latter being Nigeria’s top scorer in recent qualifiers, all departed their bases on Tuesday and are expected to join the national team camp in Uyo soon.

Their arrival will bring the total number of players to 23, solidifying the squad for Coach Finidi George. This will be a welcome boost as the team grapples with a number of injury setbacks, including key players like Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, and Zaidu Sanusi.

The Super Eagles are set to face Bafana Bafana on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium with an 8pm Nigerian time kick-off. With a (likely) full squad assembled by then, Coach George will have a strong team at his disposal as they aim to secure a positive result in their quest for World Cup qualification.

We had earlier reported that 20 players were already in Uyo for the crucial fixture. See list in article below!
