Super Eagles get dates for 2025 AFCON qualifiers

Super Eagles of Nigeria strkier Victor Osimhen has promised the team will 'do their best to win' vs Guinea Bissau in their last group game of the 2023 AFCON.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the dates for the Super Eagles’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are in Group D, alongside the Cheetahs of Benin, Rwanda’s Amavubi, and Libya. The team will be aiming to secure a spot in the upcoming AFCON tournament.

The Super Eagles will kick off their campaign on September 7, 2024, hosting Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

They will then travel to Kigali to face Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on September 10, 2024.

After finishing as runners-up in the 2023 AFCON, Nigeria is eager to push for the title and bring the gold medal home. However, their path to success is uncertain as they currently lack a head coach. Finidi George, the previous head coach, resigned due to reported issues with the Nigeria Football Federation.

With the coaching position still vacant and less than a month remaining before their first qualifying match, the Super Eagles face significant challenges as they prepare for these crucial fixtures.
