Super Falcons captain Onome Ebi fires back at fitness critics

Super Falcons captain Onome Ebi has dismissed concerns over her fitness levels ahead of the highly anticipated summer Olympics in Paris, France. The experienced defender, who was one of the notable absentees from the Olympic squad released by NFF, took to social media to address the criticism, labeling it as “misleading” and “unfair”.

Ebi’s outburst was directed at sports digital creator Ifeoluwa Leo-Olagbaye, who had questioned her ability to perform at the highest level due to her age. The 41-year-old defender, who has consistently proven her fitness and dedication to the team, was having none of it.

“Na God go punish you for this your news and misleading people,” Ebi wrote on her Facebook page. “Na God go punish all of una bloggers, I swear, una wan dey use my name trend. Useless fools.”

The Super Falcons captain’s response has sparked a heated debate in the Nigerian football community, with many coming out in support of Ebi. Her teammates and fans have rallied around her, praising her leadership and commitment to the team despite not making it to the Olympic list.
