Coach Randy Waldrum has confirmed that the Super Falcons are prepared for their upcoming matches, including a friendly against Canada and their Olympic opener against Brazil, despite some players arriving late to camp.
The Nigerian women’s national team is one of two African teams heading to the Paris Olympics. Drawn into a challenging group with Japan, Spain, and Brazil, the team faces tough competition ahead.
The NFF has organized a friendly match against Canada on July 17. Waldrum is confident about the team’s preparation. “We have had a great camp; the players have worked extremely hard,” Waldrum said in an interview with The Super Falcons Show. He acknowledged the late arrivals but emphasised that the team has maintained a high level of training and focus.
Regarding the friendly against Canada, Waldrum stated, “Certainly, the Canada game for us is a friendly and allows us to work on a couple of things that we put in place during this camp, and to see some players, to find those best combinations that are going to actually represent us when we open up against Brazil in the opening match.”
The Super Falcons will face Brazil on July 25, followed by matches against Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.
Waldrum added, “I think the girls are ready. They are tired of playing each other. I think they are ready to face a new team, so we are all looking forward to the game against Canada.”
The team’s readiness and determination are clear as they prepare to compete on the global stage.
